With the support of mentors and our free resources, young people are guided in how to train and test machine learning models that classify data such as audio, text, or images. Then they create their own model and use it to create a unique AI project, which they submit to receive feedback from us.
The Challenge has three stages of activities:
The Experience AI Challenge is a chance for young people’s imaginations to run free as they explore AI. Creating an AI application can teach many skills beyond coding, including learning about ethics, computational thinking, and design. It helps young people develop a broader understanding of the influence of AI on society.
The Challenge is for AI beginners — mentors don’t need any previous computing experience to support the activities, and young people don't need any to take part and become AI creators.
You can download and use the resource pack anywhere in the world. Project submission is only open to young people up to age 18 who live in the UK. All young people who submit a project receive expert feedback from the Raspberry Pi Foundation.
The mentor guide
This guide has everything you need to set up and run the Challenge with your young people. There is also a fast-track guide that jumps straight to the third activity stage of the challenge if you and your young people already have good working knowledge of how to make projects with AI and machine learning.
The creator guide
Use this guide for young people to support them throughout the Challenge. It's divided into stages so you can use it flexibly, and it includes talking points to help with planning and designing projects.
The blueprint workbook
This printable workbook is for young people to keep track of their inspiration, ideas, and plans during the Challenge.
