Lesson 1: What is a flood?

Students will define what a flood is and identify different types of flood. They will discuss the physical and human causes of flooding, including climate change. Finally, they will discuss the impacts that a flood may have on different stakeholders.

Lesson 2 - AI Flood Detectives

In this lesson, students will gain an understanding of what AI is and the various types of AI that can be used to solve different problems. They will learn what a prediction is and explore Google Flood Hub to find out how it makes river flood predictions.

Lesson 3 - Using AI Systems to Predict Floods

This lesson takes a more in-depth look at what AI data-driven systems are. Students consider what data is. They are taught that data-driven systems identify complex patterns in data and use these to make predictions.

Lesson 4: AI Quests - Market Marshes

In this lesson, students consolidate what they have learnt about AI flood prediction systems. They meet a character called Luna, who lives in a village that often floods. Students play the role of AI developers who must create an AI flood prediction system to help Luna protect her village's market from flooding.
